What is Spotlight?
Spotlight is a supportive, fun, beginner-friendly theatre program where students learn the basics of acting, singing, dance, and creative expression. It’s an ideal starting point for kids who are new to theatre or want to stay involved throughout the school year in a low-pressure environment.
The focus is on confidence, collaboration, and joy—not perfection. Students work together to explore stories, characters, movement, and voice while building friendships and stage comfort at their own pace.
Students participate in the full scale process of creating a 2 act play. Educational elements include:
-
Foundational acting & storytelling skills
-
Clear speaking & expressive vocal work
-
Working as a supportive team
No prior theatre experience required. Every student is welcome.
Perform on a College Stage
The program concludes with three live performances at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts. Students gain the unforgettable experience of performing in a beautiful, professional theatre environment with full lighting, sound, and an excited audience of family and friends.
