Costumer/Art Teacher
Position Summary
The Costumer is responsible for the planning, creation, coordination, and management of costumes for Creative Theatre Experience’s summer programs, including Arts Festival, Spotlight, and Showcase productions. Working in close collaboration with program leadership, the Costumer ensures that all costume elements align with artistic vision, production needs, and CTE’s educational mission.
Key Responsibilities
Costume Design & Production

Collaborate with the Program Director, Arts Festival Coordinator, Spotlight Workshop Director, and Showcase Workshop Director to design and implement costumes for all productions.

Create, source, and/or oversee construction of costumes and costume elements.

For Arts Festival, develop simple costume enhancements (e.g., headpieces, tabards) designed to be worn with standard participant attire (black bottoms and CTE season t-shirt).
Program Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with faculty, staff, directors, students, families, and volunteers to coordinate all costuming needs.

Maintain consistent communication with program leadership to ensure alignment on creative direction and logistics.

Provide clear guidance and instruction related to costuming for participants, parents, and volunteers.
Organization & Inventory Management

Oversee the organization, tracking, and maintenance of all costume inventory.

Participate in load-in to select and prepare costumes for each production.

Ensure costumes are properly managed throughout the program, including fittings, adjustments, and repairs as needed.
Production Support

Support day-to-day workshop operations as a member of the faculty team, consistent with CTE philosophy and program goals.

Assist with costume-related needs during rehearsals and performances.
Load-Out & Strike

Collaborate with staff following final performances to facilitate efficient costume strike.

Participate in load-out to ensure all costumes are properly cleaned, organized, and stored.
Additional Duties

Art Teacher for Arts Festival

Plan and teach student workshops in Art related activities that support productions.

Supervise and instruct students from 1st - 12th grade.

Perform other related duties as assigned to support program success.
Qualifications

Experience in costume design, construction, or theatrical wardrobe management.

Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented, educational environment.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Experience working with youth programs, theatre education, or community arts organizations preferred.
