Joshua Schmitt
Joshua is getting back to his roots as a theater kid.
Joshua's Story
Joshua serves on the CTE Board with a deep appreciation for theatre, education, and the communities that form around the arts. His perspective is shaped by both hands-on experience and long-term involvement with youth-focused programs, including four meaningful years with Kids at Play—work he reflects on with gratitude and respect.

With a background in high school theatre tech, Joshua brings an understanding of the behind-the-scenes collaboration that makes theatre possible. He is also an engaged audience member, having seen productions ranging from large professional stages like Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre to local high school performances, reinforcing his belief in the value of theatre at every level.

Joshua is committed to ongoing learning and creative growth. He has recently begun taking improv classes with OFT and looks forward to continuing his training. As a board member, he is especially invested in creating spaces where young artists and families feel supported. He takes great pride in watching his own children’s love for theatre grow—often hearing them sing entire musicals from memory in the car—and brings that same care and enthusiasm to his role supporting CTE’s mission.
